Proposed protest march and rally against health care restrictions for certain refugees and migrants - Sat 5th April Manchester

Dear Friends

Proposed protest march and rally against health care restrictions for certain refugees and migrants - Sat 5th April Manchester

On behalf of Manchester Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers (MCDAS) I am seeking to canvass support from campaigning organisations, NGO's, trades unions, faith groups and concerned individuals for a protest march and rally in opposition to government plans to withdraw health care to migrant workers, The current Department of Health and Home Office review of access to the NHS by foreign nationals is of great concern to many and has already encountered substantial opposition from a wide range of organisations, health workers, trades unions and refugee and migrant groups. A period of 'consultation' on their proposals is currently underway.

In order to help express, focus and organise opposition to these inhuman, restrictive and ultimately dangerous proposals MCDAS propose that with support of others, we hold a protest march, and outdoor rally with speakers on Saturday 5th April 2008.

We suggest assembly at 11.30am at All Saints, Oxford Rd. Manchester, with a march to the Peace Gardens for a rally with speakers from supporting organisations. If needed we could hold an ad hoc meeting to finalize arrangements.

Please let us know if you or your group support this initiative.

A further email and leaflet can then be prepared.

Say, No to restrictions on healthcare for people without status in the UK
