MacDonald Highland Resorts (MAHR) in Aviemore, Scotland, is hosting the Institute of Animal Technology (IAT) Congress 2008 in March.

Make your voices heard against the vivisectors in the UK!

Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty
Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty

MacDonald Highland Resorts (MAHR) in Aviemore, Scotland, is hosting the Institute of Animal Technology (IAT) Congress 2008, from 4th-6th March, finishing with the Congress Dinner and Dance Thursday evening. Vivisectors from the UK and abroad will be there. Planned presentations include; ‘Success in the face of protest’ by HLS. (So it looks like we’re invited to speak!). Also, delegates from: Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Imperial College London, etc.

MacDonald Higland Resorts are nestled within the Cairngorms National Park; there are four hotels within the resort - the luxurious 4 star Macdonald Highlands Hotel, the Academy Hotel and the newly acquired Macdonald Four Seasons and Aviemore Inn

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

This hotel company has a right to know about the cruelty inflicted by members of IAT and what’s going on inside HLS by members of IAT, which is where you come in...

1 - Contact MacDonald Aviemore Highland Resorts urgently and tell them you will boycott them whilst they support animal cruelty. Let them know about IAT and Huntingdon’s appalling track record for animal cruelty!
2 - Organise leafleting, or peaceful demo's at your local MacDonald hotel and at the Congress itself. They have around 70 other sites in the UK and abroad.

Remember to please keep all correspondence informative and polite at all times.

SAMPLE LETTER
==========

To Whom It May Concern

I am writing to you regarding your business relationship with Institute of
Animal Technology (IAT) and HLS. It has come to my attention that your hotel group is hosting the IAT’s UK congress in March 2008. Some of the delegates are from HLS, the most exposed animal testing laboratory in the world.

The IAT is the body representing thousands of UK animal technicians who work in laboratories, inflicting suffering and killing the animals supposedly in their ‘care’. If this conference goes ahead, I will henceforth boycott all MacDonald hotels and resorts, and will encourage others to do the same. Numerous undercover investigations have revealed animal technicians grossly abusing animals in many different labs across the world, the most well-known instance of which is the footage obtained at Huntingdon Life Sciences of workers punching beagle puppies in the face.

Steve Owen, a key employee of Huntingdon Life Sciences, was instrumental in organising the conference in 2003 in Ireland and many HLS employees are members of the IAT. The IAT tried to hoodwink the CityWest Hotel in Dublin by not disclosing the nature of their organisation. You may not be aware that HLS is the world’s most exposed animal testing laboratory. They have repeatedly been caught out on film committing acts of cruelty both in the US and the UK. They have been caught punching beagle puppies, and cutting open live primates without painkillers. They have been exposed for shoddy work, and falsified data. During one study on wild caught baboons, HLS broke the law 520 times but were never prosecuted.

In late 2007, a senior scientist from HLS in the USA has filed a lawsuit after he claims he was being pressured into falsifying data. This is a sham of a company with a poor reputation and I should not think you would like to be associated with this, or members of the IAT who work there.

I don't expect you to take my word for it but you can see the cruelty yourself, as shown on national TV;  http://www.shac.net/HLS/exposed.html. Anyone who goes
to work to inflict suffering on animals and kill them in pointless,
unscientific experiments should not be welcome at MacDonald Hotels to make a compassionate decision to cancel this congress.”

Thank you for your time, and I do hope that you will be reconsidering your position and no longer supporting this cruelty.

Foie Gras

They used to do foie gras but stopped, so no reason why the vivisectors can't be kicked out.

We'll cover the Harrogate one!

Do you lot ever take medication???

22.02.2008 15:50

where do you think many of the medications have been tested, and proven to be safe for human use - this is done on animals.

Dont tell me that if any of you are seriously ill, dont take any medication, or if required go to hospital for Life saving surgery etc. many operational techniques would never have come around if it hadnt been tried on animals first.

The Body Shop claims never to have tested its constituents on animals, for its cosmetics, however that is due to the fact that other companies have, and the data is there for them to use - hence yes their claim is correct - but not on a safe basis!
I have personally been involved in safety testing on many chamicals which are used in cosmetics, and have seen evidence that these chemicals can cause major health risks, and have to be carefully monitored.

Any IAT member that works with animals, has to love animals, they all generally have lots of pets etc too! - so dont go saying that we kill for the fun of it!

get your act right!
