Copied below is the result of the discussion at the Network Meeting to cover the topic of anti semitism on the wire. The kollective gave in to the Jew haters by agreeing to keep on talking about the problem rather than dealing with it and no platforming anti semites.

Indymedia's admin deserve to be laughed at for their timidity and cowardice.

Anti-Semitism
There was a discussion about the anti-Semitism issue and indymedia's definitions about what constitutes anti-Semitism.

Concern that this is a prelude to an increasing climate of hiding Palestinian articles or criticisms of Israel.

Sends out a signifier that UK Indymedia has a position on their dispute.

This is a big and divisive question overall not just in the IMCs. Might be worth comparing with other positions and coming to a collective statement on this.

Might also be worth hiding the discussion about if to hide it as this should not be in the comments and a public dispute.

Post was long buried in the archives asking for the post to be hidden, so it was not controversial at the time.


Agree that what Greenstein has done and his campaign has been disruptive. All agreed this was the case. This is not a personal problem, it is a political problem. Responsibility of the collective to discuss this.

Proposal to move the disputed post into a third place that is not hidden but flagged as under discussion. Two stand-aside, no blocks. (tech wise, This will remove all the comments from the post in question.)
Proposal to to hide the article but not no platform the writer. This was blocked.

Proposal to ban Greenstein from the lists with arguing about this and hide posts about this on the lists and disruptive posts in general. This is already been done.

Proposal to discuss the issue of anti-Semitism and to get deep into the politics by those who wish to do so.

Not surprised to see this hidden. The little London team running the site is desperate to see this issue swept under the carpet so expect to notice fast hidings and removal of posts and comments that show what they have done.

The techie team is already building a closed non public list to prevent knowledge of just how many complaints there have been about this issue.

This issue is not over, yes people are pissed off at what went down at the meeting but do not think this is the end of it.

There is no place for racist holocaust deniers or any other type of anti semites on imc and some of the admins are 100% commited to preventing this take over.

We know things are shit at the moment, we know some are trying to shut up the discussion, we know that users are unhappy, we know that peeps are emailing complaints and that those complaints are being hidden.

Please give us the chance to put this right.

So many perfectly valid things on anti-semitism and criticising aspects of anti-Zionist posts have been hidden while rabid anti-Zionist stuff is posted. I'm taking my popular environmental selves elsewhere, and am now ceasing making Indymedia citations, much as I keep being drawn back to comment on certain posts.
