Petition: for two activists... that you know well

To all the friends of the freedom of speech and opponents of racism:
This is a petition in support of Gilad Atzmon and Mary Rizzo, who have been the targets of an ongoing vicious smear campaign by those claiming to be "anti-zionists", yet utilising zionist intimidation tactics against those who do not agree with their views.

We are a group of Palestinians and other activists for the Palestinian cause of various nationalities and affiliations, and believe that unity and persistence is important to confront the injustice our people had suffered in the past and still at present, probably in the unforeseeable future by Zionist and colonialist powers.

Zionism has damaged us from the first day when they started implementing their colonialist project to colonize all of Palestine, and when the opportunity comes, extend it beyond the borders of historic Palestine, damaging other Arabs. From the first day, they had been resorting to physical, psychological, moral and propaganda terror against all sorts of resistance whether it is in armed self-defense, and even against the power of the word by Palestinians and their supporters. They had been resorting to personal and communal targeted assassination, terrorizing Palestinians and their supporters all round the world in order to shut up all sorts of resistance. They try to break us apart, because they know our unity is dangerous to their colonialist and racist plans. They had been trying to control and shut the free and honest media, and political activism by financial bribery and blackmailing when running for any sort of political offices at all levels, especially against those who call for the liberation of Palestine and the Right of Return of Palestinians to their homes and land and want them to live under a democratic, sovereign and free state under the rule of law.

Among those free fighters against Zionism are two non-Arab supporters of the Palestinian cause, two outstanding personalities who are also great fighters for the implementation of freedom and liberty to all the subjugated peoples of the world, Gilad Atzmon, the ex-Zionist London-based musician and writer, and Mary Rizzo, the Italy-based blogger of Peacepalestine

Almost no day goes past when Tony Greenstein is not waging a war against Gilad Atzmon and Mary Rizzo, and we believe his actions have overstepped all limits. We have watched as he tries to smear them as racists, and we are saddened that his attempts increase as our own situation becomes more and more dramatic. These useless and pointless defamation campaigns are intolerable, as he circulates falsity against these activists. His attempts to do this only hurt our cause and waste our energy, not the least, they distract from the important issues, and go against the very idea of unity that we value.

We, Palestinians and activists for Palestine, express our solidarity with Gilad Atzmon and Mary Rizzo, who when they realized the tragedies Palestinians and other Arabs suffered, especially ethnically cleansed from their ancestral homeland, at the hands racist colonialist Zionism decided to fight for the rightful Palestinian cause. Atzmon willingly liberated himself from this inhuman and destructive project, by choosing the road of self-imposed exile and public exposure of what the Zionist project is all about. Tony Greenstein created among his usual lies that some Palestinians attack and defame the two dedicated supporters of the Palestinian cause, Atzmon and Rizzo. We declare that he does not speak for us or in our names when he attacks these and other activists.

We also take the opportunity to condemn the strangling siege that is being imposed over the Gaza Strip in particular and the West Bank and the rest of the Palestinian Arab people in general to complete their ethnic cleansing from their historic homeland. We urge all peace loving supporters of the freedom of thought, against all racism and Zionism and dedicated to the just Palestinian Arab cause as well as Iraq and all occupied Arab lands, to sign the petition calling for an end to the defamation campaign and a focus on the issues that are important to our people. The people who this petition refers are have been deemed racist, anti-Semites and holocaust deniers by many respected activists.

A quick scan of the signatories reveals the kind of person who supports them:

Wendy Campbell, notorious holocaust denier
Deir Yassin Remembered plays host to another notorious holocaust denier
The Radical Press, Canada- a site which carries every mad anti-Semitic idea ever devised and then some that Goebbels would have rejected as "too extreme to be credible".

Well done. Keep it up! You true colours are getting hoisted ever higher.

What is less humourous and more sick is the fact they are coining in on an interpolation of the GAza situation.

I guess they didn't feel confident that their good reputations were enough draw support.

The article and petition are misleading as it gives the impression that the people in question are victims of Zionist false charges of racism.

This is totally untrue. They are being targeted by a grassroots direct action campaign by left-wing/anarchist anti-racists and anti-fa.

On that basis one has to question how many of these people have signed the petition on that deceptive basis.

Now I wonder if this misleading and inaccurate material of the most manipulative nature will remain visible recruiting more dupes for a lie.

We have to assume that people never sign anything they don't agree with.

There is no deception there. If someone thinks so, they should get more information or just not sign.

Judging by the comments that the guy who is compiling the signatories has, it seems that many have asked what took so long for someone to tell Greenstein that they are sick of his campaigns, harassment and lies.

So, go look up all the people who signed, they are all pretty easy to find, most of them are public figures, have blogs, sites and are in various activist groups, tell them that they were wrong, because YOU and Tony know who are anti-Semites and they must be corrected.

That at least is an honest approach.

The list of lies Tony says is as long as my arm, and De Rooij wrote an article about what Tony does after Tony had written a screed against him as well. Tony had never heard of him until 2 weeks ago (!!!!) and all the same, decided to attack him just as violently.

A lot of people are just sick of it.

Want to know what the beauty is? Some of the people who signed are activist friends who know me well. When I talked with a few of them, I warned them that since Tony had decided now to attack Redress, since he OBVIOUSLY is more important than Redress... that they would probably find their sites and selves being attacked, yes, even the Palestinian people. They told me that they didn't care one bit, that if he did it was just a sign of his sick mind and his disinterest in Palestinians.

And why would such a victimised non-racist have a rogues' gallery of foes on their blog with the word 'JEW' tagged onto them. Reminds a bit of the Baltic death squads hanging the "Jude" sign around necks of someone who has just been executed. But I suppose your friends dubt that happened either. Is 'JEW' tag merely a racist objection to their ethnicity or is meant to be a self-evident stereotypical insult?

There are plenty of other anti-Semites and holocaust deniers on the list of signatures. Kristofer Larrsson, Daniel McGowen, Redress information site etc. etc.

So Dieter this is a good example of Palestine solidarity in action.

The Indymedia Collective should hang its head in shame for allowing anti-Semites and holocaust deniers to have a free run over their site. Their Guidelines about discrimination aren't worth a tinkers cuss. They aren't even mentioned as the only issue of concern now is the 'right' of anti-Semites, assorted racists and holocaust deniers to post, WHILST AT THE SAME TIME critics of these people are censored and hidden. You really couldn't make it up.

And re Matthew's point. Yes the Gilad Shalit campaign is racist and operating within a racist framework, that is the Zionist state of Israel. So what does Rizzo do? She borrows from this racism and just adds to this racism. Nowhere on the original post was there mention of where it came from, nor a critique of it. Rather they ran with it and put my photo and others on it. The disgusting racism of Zionism is now used to fuel their own disgusting racism.

Atzmon & Rizzo first - Palestinians of Gaza an afterthought

At a time when Gaza is under siege and people are dying we are told that the most important cause around Palestine is defence of 2 holocaust deniers and anti-Semites. True they do get around to mentioning, as an afterthought, the siege of Gaza, but that is it. For 2 days this has been the top blog on 'peacepalestine'.

Those who aren't anti-Semitic or racists who have signed this should be ashamed of themselves. The Zionists attack supporters of the Palestinians as anti-semitic and now this will be used to confirm that 'fact'.

This all started out when Jews Against Zionism criticised Israel Shamir, a Board Member and adviser of Deir Yassin Remembered. He is not mentioned these days as it is widely accepted he is an Israeli agent. In the years to come the same will be said of Gilad Atzmon. Whether he's working for nothing or receives an allowance is immaterial.

This petition is in support of mary rizzo, who assures us that she is not anti-semitic. Let us judge how much faith we should put in her judgment. On the Socialist Unity site she assured us concerning one of the signatories to the petition that:
