this morning brian haw began his four-day sixty-mile walk to oxford to take part in the 'queen and country' debate at the oxford union
accompanied by fourteen walkers, and many other supporters, veteran parliament square peace protestor, brian haw, set off on his walk to oxford at around 10.30 this morning. other supporters will continue the vigil outside parliament. it will be only the second time he has left his pavement camp for any appreciable time in more than six years (the first time was due to illness)
he has been invited by the oxford union on thursday evening to take part in a historic re-run of the controversial 'king and country' debate which took place 75 years ago just as hitler came to power.
he will be speaking for the motion 'that this house will in no circumstances fight for its queen and country'
