Liverpool Social Centre | 03.02.2008 23:42 | Liverpool

'More clearly than any before them, the Porto Marghera workers identified the factory as the trigger of fatal diseases and destroyer of life.' Wildcat, Mute Magazine

The story of class struggles that shook Italy in the 60s and 70s. A story told by those who took part in Porto Marghera's Autonomous Assembly – the workers themselves.
The Assembly coordinated the struggles in the factories, squatted houses, formed neighbourhood committees and organised price reductions in supermarkets. Workers were also the leading element in the fight against environmental pollution in the Veneto region.
What is the relevance of their struggles today?
What are the commonalities between the struggles against work, housing situation and environmental pollution?
