Oxfam are looking for motivated, passionate individuals to take on new Area Coordinator volunteer roles. The main focus of AC's is to provide a communication link between activists in the Leeds area and the Activism Team. They will support, motivate, mobilise and recuit activists to take action around Oxfam campaigns such as Trade, Conflict, Climate Change and Health and Education for All.

Oxfam are looking for motivated, passionate individuals to join their extended family within Campaigns in the Leeds area.

The new, part time volunteer roles, ‘Area Coordinators,’ will be pivotal to the success of Oxfam’s campaign strategy.

The main focus of Area Coordinators is to provide a communication link between activists in the Leeds area and the Activism Team.

Oxfam activists undertake a range of activities, such as running street stalls and events, collecting campaign petition sign ups, political lobbying, writing and responding to media articles and online campaigning.

Area Coordinators will receive on going free training and support from Oxfam staff and will have the most up to date information about Oxfam’s campaign schedule. They will use this knowledge to help us coordinate activism in the Leeds area.

The Coordinators will also help to create a sense of community amongst activists, through online measures such as social networking sites like Facebook, and off line by organising networking, training and social events.

It will also be essential for Area Coordinators to build relationships with other local NGO groups, Oxfam shops and local media to help promote Oxfam campaigns and recruit new activists to the movement.

If you have an interest in campaigning and a few hours a week to spare, then please get in touch with the Activism team on 01865 473154 or email  ssaunter@oxfam.org.uk.

Training consists of: Knowledge of Oxfam, activism and campaigning, social networking and e-campaigning, collaborative working, building community, presentation skills, chairing meetings, publicity and the media, monitoring & diversity.
