Just a reminder that Jonny Ablewhite's birthday is on 27 Jan and Heather Nicholson's is on 30 Jan, so please send them a birthday card. Jonny was found guilty of "blackmail" for his role in the (successful) Newchurch campaign and Natasha has been charged with conspiracy to blackmail Huntingdon Life Sciences and has been remanded in custody.

SENTANCED PRISONER

In May 2006, four British animal rights activists were sentenced to a total of 40 years behind bars after pleading guilty to "blackmail" for their roles in a campaign against the infamous Newchurch guinea pig farm which bred animals for torture & death at the hands of vivisectors (the farm has since closed, following years of activist pressure).

Jon Ablewhite, John Smith and Kerry Whitburn were all sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. Josephine Mayo was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

What you can send: stamps. Postal orders/cheques should be made payable to 'HMP LOWDHAM GRANGE' - include on the back the inmate's name and number and the name and address of the sender. Will not accept writing paper or packs of envelopes.

REMAND PRISONER

Heather Nicholson (VM4859)

HMP Bronzefield, Woodthorpe Road, Ashford, Middx TW15 3JZ.

Gregg & Natasha Avery and Heather Nicholson were arrested and remanded into custody after 32 separate police raids, involving 700 police officers in the UK, The Netherlands and Belgium on May 1st 2007.

They have been charged with "conspiracy to blackmail" Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) along with a further nine defendents. Their trial is due to start around June 2008. More information on the campaign to close HLS:  http://www.shac.net

The court case against, Gregg, Natasha and Heather as well as 7 other activists (currently on bail) is set to start at Winchester Crown Court on the 2nd June 2008 and may last as long as 6 months.

What you can send: Cheques/postal orders made out to 'The Governor'. Books, stationery, stamps; saes. Write prisoner name and number on the back.
