Thursday 31 January, 2008: SOAS University will premiere a photographic slide show, short film and discussion on the growing Refugee crisis in Calais, France.

Hosted by the SOAS Detainee Support Group, supported by SOAS STW and LGBT societies, the 14-minute film After Sangatte interviews one Iraqi Kurd refugee on his life, his escape from Iraq, to his plight, and that facing all those escaping the War on Terror to seek asylum in the UK.

A photographic slide show will discuss the closure of the Red Cross Sangatte Refugee Camp. The film will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with the filmmaker, photographer and journalist involved in trying to bring this humanitarian crisis back to the UK public attention.
