Some pics from the counter-cops demo

FITwatcher | 23.01.2008 22:56 | Repression | London

FITwatch turned up to 'welcome' the demonstrating cops, presenting them with Section 14 orders (see  https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/01/389904.html) and taking their photos for their own forward intelligence purposes.

Evening Standard tells the truth for once!
Evening Standard tells the truth for once!

For a while it seemed that the mainstream press, showing every sign of being more interested in the counter-demo than the cops, would disobey their corporate masters and not simply repeat the line about the cops being all quiet and dignified. But not as far as I can tell. Evidently, violent arrests and constant harassment of protesters, providing proof of what their wages are paying for, just isn't newsworthy.

why not an anti-army demo instead

24.01.2008 11:42

The police are no way as bad as the British army who occuppied and terrorised the Nationalist community of Ulster for 30 years and who are currently involved in the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. So why not hold a demo against the army?

BNP on the March

24.01.2008 15:59

The BNP article on this reproduces the photo from the Evening Standard and includes:

"Richard’s presence was welcomed by countless police officials, who solidly told off some unknown left wing politician’s attempts to distance themselves from the BNP. Many officers gladly offered to be interviewed about the situation by BNPtv, and you can view the sensational footage from the team at BNPtv...

Richard walked alongside top members of the Police Federation..."

Anyone else see this guy - round Hyde Park Corner, photographing the "protest" stall - had a 'security' hi vis on, not taking shots of the march, but specifically the anti protest...
