Midsummer House Sells Diseased Liver – Demo Report

Midsummer House Campagin | 12.01.2008 21:54 | Animal Liberation | Health | Cambridge | World

Campaigners continue the fight to take cruel and diseased product off menu of Cambridge restaurant Midsummer House.

Once again campaigners gathered outside Midsummer House restaurant in Cambridge to highlight its sale of Foie Gras. Foie Gras is enlarge duck or goose liver, the production process use to achieve this commonly involves force feeding the animals until their livers swells painfully.

The campaigners handed out leaflets, displayed placards and talked to members of the public and customers. As usual the campaigners received a number of positive comments from members of the general public. People were also seen to turn away from the restaurant after reading placards displayed by activists.

The campaigners also highlighted the fact that Foie Gras is diseased liver. The technical term used for this is “hepatic lipidosis” and is when the liver ceases to function properly. It is doubtful that the Midsummer House staff inform their guests of the fact that Foie Gras is diseased meat, but the activists certainly will their has even been a spoof menu created to highlight this fact!

Protest numbers are small and support is always appreciated. At this demo it was great to see two new faces in the form of an excellent mother and daughter team! It would be great to see more people who would like to come and help, so please do come if you can.

NEW LEAFLET

To highlight the fact that Midsummer House sells diseased liver (Foie Gras) campaigners have produced a spoof Midsummer House menu. Please download and distribute widely.
