Tony Gosling | 29.12.2007 23:43 | SOCPA | Analysis | Anti-racism | Terror War | World

The fact that prime 9/11 suspect is still up to tricks - killing Osama Bin Laden in fact - and all on the David Frost show. Showing links between ISI and the CIA.

Alleged connection to 9/11

On October 6, 2001, a senior-level U.S. government official told CNN that U.S. investigators had discovered Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh (Sheik Syed), using the alias "Mustafa Muhammad Ahmad" had sent about $100,000 from the United Arab Emirates to Mohammed Atta. "Investigators said Atta then distributed the funds to conspirators in Florida in the weeks before the deadliest acts of terrorism on U.S. soil that destroyed the World Trade Center, heavily damaged the Pentagon and left thousands dead. In addition, sources have said Atta sent thousands of dollars -- believed to be excess funds from the operation -- back to Saeed in the United Arab Emirates in the days before September 11. CNN later confirmed this.

The 9/11 Commission's Final Report states that the source of the funds "remains unknown."

More than a month after the money transfer was discovered, the head of ISI, General Mahmoud Ahmad resigned from his position. It was reported that the FBI was investigating the possibility that Gen. Ahmed ordered Saeed Sheikh to send the $100,000 to Atta; there were also claims that Indian intelligence had already produced proof for the Pakistani administration that this was so.

The Wall Street Journal was one of the only Western news organizations to follow up on the story, citing the Times of India: "US authorities sought General Mahmoud Ahmad's removal after confirming the fact that $100,000 was wired to WTC hijacker Mohammed Atta from Pakistan by Ahmad Umar Sheikh at the instance of General Mahmoud." Another Indian newspaper, the Daily Excelsior, quoting FBI sources, reported that the "FBI’s examination of the hard disk of the cellphone company Omar Sheikh had subscribed to led to the discovery of the "link" between him and the deposed chief of the Pakistani ISI, Mahmoud Ahmad. And as the FBI investigators delved deep, sensational reports surfaced with regard to the transfer of 100,000 dollars to Mohammed Atta, one of the kamikaze pilots who flew his Boeing into the World Trade Centre. General Mahmoud Ahmad, the FBI investigators found, fully knew about the transfer of money to Atta."

The Pittsburgh Tribune notes that "There are many in Musharraf's government who believe that Saeed Sheikh's power comes not from the ISI, but from his connections with our own CIA."

Sheikh rose to prominence with the 2002 killing of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who at the time was in Pakistan investigating connections between the ISI and Islamic militant groups. In Pakistan, Sheikh was sentenced to death for killing Pearl, however his complicity in the execution and the reasons behind it are in dispute.

In an opinion piece published by the Wall Street Journal, Tunku Varadarajan has claimed that “It is a fact that General Mahmoud Ahmad, then head of the ISI, wired $100,000 to Mohammed Atta before 9/11 through an intermediary."

Video: Bhutto said bin Laden dead

JAZZ from HELL

...Bhutto asserted to David Frost less than two months ago that bin Laden had been murdered by Omar Sheikh, whom the Sunday Times once described as "no ordinary terrorist but a man who has connections that reach high into Pakistan's military and intelligence elite and into the innermost circles" of bin Laden and al-Qaeda...

Genius

I love how "alleged" becomes completely invisible. It's almost certain that MI6 and CIA has people working with ISI. That's what spooks do; liaise with strategic partners. And it is almost certain that ISI has people knee deep in Wahhabi terrorism. That doesn't equal any clear answer however.

And the ridiculous overclaims continue. ISI is now a virtual extension of the CIA. And Pythagoras equals 3 I suppose? You are making the fundamental error that because the CIA has been involved as a strategic partner with the Taliban/al Qaeda in the past it still is, with absolutely nothing on the table to back that up.

Do you think the ability to read and to be able to artlessly join a few disparate facts/rumours into a story is a unique talent? Why do you lot waste your time and worse waste our time with this Emperor's New Clothes of research? Making pleasing montages out of newspaper clippings may be good fun, but why don't you ever bother to properly research these issues?

Surely hands on contact with the actual subject matter could only be beneficial?

If I were to write a book on global warming but had never even bothered to talk to engage a researcher, the raw data or any offenders I'd be laughed at.

Anyway, what does Eric May have to say about it all?

Bhutto Warned of Outside "Intervention"

30.12.2007 22:35

In her last speech before her assassination, Bhutto signaled that she didn't want foreign troops (read: US forces currently stationed in Afghanistan) inside her country to battle Pakistan's internal problems with violence.
It is very doubtful, then, that she would have had any stomach for the kind of agreement, as had already brokered in Islamabad and Washington, for the US to provide Special Service forces to fight on the Pakistani side of the Afghani-Pakistani border.

At the moment this agreement was brokered, she became irrelevant to US foreign policy. And note the date of this article: one day before she was assassinated.

Also note that she told the BBC that if she was murdered, one of the people to investigate was "the man who murdered Osama bin Laden".

Benazir's last address: Pakistan is in danger
Friday, 12.28.2007, 10:22am (GMT-7)

ISLAMABAD: Minutes before she was assassinated, former premier Benazir Bhutto had said her Pakistan People's Party would "save the country" from extremists and terrorists if it was voted to power. "The country is in danger-- bomb blasts are taking place everywhere, be it Swat, South Waziristan or the Eid prayers in Charsadda.

We have to save the country with the power of the people," Bhutto told thousands of PPP supporters at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on Thursday. "I appeal all of you to vote for us to save the country," she repeatedly said in her address. The 54-year-old PPP chairperson praised her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, saying he had made Pakistan's defense impregnable and put the country on the path of prosperity and democracy. "Nobody could dare to think of breaking the country or doing terror and extremist acts when the People's Party was in power.

But the country had to suffer whenever a dictator took over," she said. Bhutto said that PPP would never let its workers down after coming to power and there would be rule of law in the country. She referred to reports that foreign troops would be sent to help fight resurgent Taliban and al Qaida in the area bordering Afghanistan.

"Why should foreign troops come in? We can take care of this, I can take care of this, you can take care of this," she said. "Political orphans tried hard to delay the polls. They planned the proclamation of emergency rule in the country and wanted President (Pervez) Musharraf to stay in uniform for five more years but all such bids failed miserably," she said.

The 54-year-old leader, who died a few minutes later after she was shot by a suicide attacker, regretted that the year 2007 had witnessed the removal of the Chief Justice of Pakistan "twice", detention of judges of the superior judiciary and the military operation on Islamabad's Lal Masjid that resulted in the loss of over 100 lives.

She said that addressing unemployment, rising inflation and lack of healthcare and education facilities would top the PPP's agenda if it was elected to power.

Also Revealed Osama bin Laden Dead

Not quite but very interesting

30.12.2007 23:18

Anyone can suggest any number of theories on the whereabouts and state of health of bin Laden, and there are any number of agendas for spreading misinformation. So basically, she alleges that he is dead and alleges the killer's identity. And after all she could have been duped into thinking that.

Interestingly Musharraf has stated in his autobiography regarding Sheikh's MI6 involvement: "At some point, he probably became a rogue or double agent"

Again, there could be any number of reasons behind the assertion.

If Sheikh did kill bin Laden it would have had to have been before 12th Feb 2002, since he has been in jail on death row since then.

Yeah but what if...

31.12.2007 14:56

I guess if you want to set someone up. wiring them a large sum of money is pretty good for starters.
You can just imagine the explaining to the judge and the old fart believing that you had no idea who had sent you a load of lolly, but it kinda came in handy, surely any "honest" person would have informed the authorities instead
of buying their local pub and pissing it all up the wall.
If it fits the plot, they do it, but are you sure that you are not trying to prove exactly what they want you to ?
