BNP threaten anti-fascist leafletters in Brinsley

Dave Matthews | 17.12.2007 20:12 | Anti-racism

The split in the BNP should not fool anyone that either side, Graham or Griffin will change their methods of political work; violence, threats and suppression of democratic expression is central to both as we found out in Brinsley on the 16th Dec.

On Sunday a number of anti-fascist leafletters from Nottinghamshire Stop the BNP chose to let the people of Notts villages know what is going on in the BNP. One group of 6 people decided to leaflet Brinsley.
After an hour of leafletting, a fast travelling BMW pulled up alongside this group of leafletters. In an agitated state one of the car occupants jumped out and ran after one and then another of the leafletters shouting 'you have 10 mins to get out of Brinsley'. Initially the leafletters were bemused by this. Was there going to be nuclear strike on Brinsley?
The fat little driver of the car made a little clearer that they were not concerned about our safety but were in fact making a threat that in 10 mins they would get a heavy squad down to deal with us.
By that time of this incident the leafletters had pretty much finished so they decided to go back to their vehicles. (Because of the atmosphere of intimidation created by the BNP in Brinsley, we generally provide outside people to leaflet.)
The BMW had driven away presumably to try and co-ordinate an attack. Another vehicle had it appears been following the leafletters as well. When they got back to their car they found that a way out of the cul-de-sac had been blocked by this other vehicle driven by a woman, allegedly broken down. After the leafletters remonstrated the woman was pressurised to move her 'broken down' vehicle.
By this time our agitated BNP (real BNP?) thug was back. It was 5 minutes now we apparently had.
Whether anyone would have turned up, it would have been interesting to see. Whether the BNP (real BNP?) would have provoked a punch up on the doorstep of their ever so respectable councillor Sadie Graham, that also would have been interesting to know. Although we decided not to wait to find out on this occasion.
But some things are clear.
1) These 2 petty thugs were probably attached to the BNP opposition around Sadie Graham. The BNP are hardly likely to defend Graham's patch. Despite being asked the thugs didn't want to reveal the side they were on in the internal BNP dispute.
2) The fact that this method of trying to silence any opposition is as much a part of the BNP opposition as it is the BNP.
3) The division in the BNP which is providing such wonderful insights about how the BNP works and the politics and characters of their leaders gives us powerful political ammunition that worries the BNP and Graham's opposition.

I feel another leafletting session coming on.

Just so you can see what the real BNP were worried about the people of Brinsley seeing. The leaflet has been uploaded to a number of websites including the one

Make the most of it

The harrassment/stalking legislation that companies like to use against activists is perfect for this.

If you can get the same people intimidating you repeatedly then it might be possible to blag an injunction. The real fun begins when you try and make the police enforce that injunction next time you're out leafleting.

Real BNP - now with added aggro!

Interesting, good work for leafletting against these twats. Now that Graham has been booted out the BNP and is trying to set up the "Real BNP" (think they should have called it "Continuity BNP" myself!), are they going to abandon the effort of trying desperately to look like a normal political party ?(always a cynical bogus rebranding), and going to move towards more street confrontation and violence - ie. reveal their true character! This incident in Brinsley suggests exactly that.

I imagine that reining themselves in and pretending to be all respectable and legal must have been very difficult for these insecure aggro-ready idiots. If the Real BNP represents a return to outright intimidation tactics, after years of Griffin trying to cover this up, then we must be ready to resist these cowards. I'm ready!

I feel.....

....a good kicking is in order. If they intimidate you again swiftly show your knuckles to the fascist bastards face and let him and the others know that anti-fascists wont take any kind of shit. No pasaran.

Pathetic fash showing their "Real" colours

What, you mean the "Real BNP" are a bunch of true-to-form violent thugs? No surprises there then!

Listen, fascist scum, there are a LOT more of us than you, and we will fight harder than you can even imagine if you are stupid enough to start using violence against the people exposing your lies.

You will lose on the streets just as you lose everywhere else, so get used to it.

Oh wait a second... you are used to it!

¡No Pasarán!

If so, good that the BNP is set to split in two, a disunified fascist movement is a ineffective fascist movement. But if this is the case, I would expect the brownshirts-in-suits left in the BNP proper to start going on about how "we aren't violent, it's those nasty splitters, we are a legitimate political party!" In other words, use the actions of the splinter groups to try and leigitimise themselves, even if deep down they would like to do exactly the same (and have done - look at how UAF activists got attacked in Morley earlier in the year!).

Something that needs to be watched out for.

After reading this diatribe,i assume many readers support the previous deputy prime minister,a person
who was televised hitting a member of the public.I am sure if a member of the BNP was caught on camera in such a way, there would be calls for the organisation to be proscribed.

To all those using the battle cry of "they shall not pass"....

You do know the communists lost the seige of Madrid dont you?

"They" passed quite nicely, and as they passed they smashed open the skulls of dead communists.

Just saying, its a strange rallying cry, sort of like "hail victory" being used bt neo-nazis who dont seem to realise that hitler lost.

We lost in the Spainish"civil"war, but it did train alot of fighters for the major struggle against the nazis which we won. Also the fight to stop fascism & change the change the system that produces so much fascism is not over

BNP dicks of Brinsley

Just to further this, my sister has moved to Brinsley and has a mixed race 18month old baby and within weeks is getting letters and bricks through her windows!! This shows how pathetic these people are and I would be happy for them to show up in day light instead of hiding behind the cover of darkness and stop being wimps and see how manly they really are!!!
