Peel Holdings: One concern: Land Values

me | 13.12.2007 17:02 | Liverpool

Peel Holdings- the owners of the Liverpool Docks- Like to portray themselves as Urban regenerators with quality of life and environment at heart- the truth is far different.

The plan for the North end Docks is no more than a cynical attempt to raise land values while creating pollution, traffic congestion, alienating office blocks and a privatised/sanitised inner Liverpool.
As David Dunster, Architecture bod at Liverpool Uni puts it "This is a piecemeal scheme and it’s there to affect land values,”.
Peel Holdings as usual in their anti-democratic way- have no comment but their architect Rodney Carren is more revealing, “It’s a question of building up the market, but it’s a very attractive site.”
'The market' refers to Peel's sole concern of creating apartments for investers which will rise in value as they are assisted by the city council which demolishes perfectly good housing to create false scarcity.
Watch Peel- they're scum.
