Petrol price protests planned for Saturday
Oil Wars | 10.12.2007 16:14 | Climate Chaos | Ecology
Remember the chaos that the fuel protests caused in 2000? There is a call for more protests of this type on Saturday:
"Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action."
"A date of Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am has been decided for protest action. This date was decided by members as the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend. This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the alotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting."

This protest is being discussed here: http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/petrol-price-protests-planned-for-this-wednesday-86.html&p=1
And it was picked up from here: http://www.powerswitch.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5964
The petrol price protesters seem blissfully unaware of the bigger picture, specifically:
[1] Climate Change -- The impact of the burning of all the hydrocarbons on the planet on the climate and life
[2] Peak Oil -- Oil, like all other resources on Earth is FINITE and it appears that production has peaked or is due to peak soon, from now on it's going to cost more and be harder to extract.
[3] Blood for Oil -- Iraq isn't due to peak till 2022, http://www.lastoilshock.com/map.html -- why else do you think the occupation forces are there?
But there are a *lot* of people posting on that site, they have 2458 comments on the article linked above and it was only posted yesterday...
How are we going to wake people up?

Fuel Protesters Plan to Trash Christmas
10.12.2007 20:36
Despite whatever assurances are given, people will panic buy and fuel stations will run dry.
This will affect my earning potential prior to the quiet new year and will have a knock on effect for me and my family."
News of the upcoming fuel prices protests planned for this Saturday has already resulted in panic buying with several forecourts reporting supply shortages.
