The Administration is failing the readership

My previous post concerning this issue was of course hidden but the link is here

 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/12/387413.html?c=all

On that post readers can also find a link, reproduced here

 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/12/387175.html?c=all

which for me was the straw that broke the camels back when it came to the anti semitism now being tolerated and in some cases promoted on Indymedia.

Overnight a couple of developments

Firstly somebody who claims to be an admin posted the following comments and then hid the post to prevent others commentating

" (admins) They're not appointed, they join the collective and, it being a non-heirarchical organisation "democratic accountability" is not really an issue. ".

Well that is OK then, the admins have decided they are not accountable so we can just live with it

"This is not a government nor a local council, "period of power" is a nonsense and there is no selection process. However if you become an admin and your "editorial decisions" - as you might judge them - consistently cause conflict you might decide you're not suitable for the task. "

No selection process ? True in that admins are selected by other admins, if you agree with them you can join the party. Was the second part of the sentence a rebuke to those admins who no longer wished to be associated with promoting racist views so they left ?

"There seem to be a number of attacks on different issues via the editorial list
 http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-features
at the moment. Want to 'fess up to which particular gripe with imc you're allied to? "

Sure, I have a strong dislike of racism. The current racism being displayed against Jews on Indymedia I find offensive.

"Well done "Mike". I've just quickly scanned the list to find your post. What non-de-plume are you using for this request? "

Well there is a surprise, this admin could not find my request, almost as though somebody removed it before it could be seen by too many people. Not a problem, happy to send it again. I am sure if will not be lost this time.

Secondly

I received an email overnight - it was sent to the account I had set up for this application. I have never used this email before and it is published nowhere but in the original application email - that would be the same one our admin above could not find.

As it was sent to me directly and not via a public list I will respect the identity of the sender and not include his name:

You can make all the applications you want, you will never be accepted as a UK administrator.

I may well not agree with you, but as you seem intent on proving I'm the problem, you should realise that it will give fodder to the 5 members of the kollektive who favour banning Atzmon - at least 3 of whom have given no indication whatsoever of their reasoning.
