NO PASARAN - Nottinghamshire International Brigade Memorial

A few photos from the memorial at the entrance to County Hall to the people from Nottingham who went to support the Spanish people in their time of struggle against the forces of fascism.

Make some time to visit the memorial which is at the left hand side of the main entrance to County Hall.

My grandad is one of the names (representing the Co-op movement) - maybe yours is too?

I was unaware

Thanks for posting this Ian. This is really interesting, me (and I'm sure many others) are unaware of this local link with this bit of (important) radical history. I'll definitely go and have a look soon, where about is it? The county hall is very big... Also, are you aware of anything published related to those who went over to fight from Notts?

A Shallow Grave

'A Shallow Grave' by Walter Gregory gives a really vivid account of his experience as one of those from Nottingham. I saw him speak at an event in Wollaton ages ago. His book was published by Five Leaves Publishing and is well worth a read.

Walter told me about the memorial. Hopefully the attached picture will help others find it - to the left of the main entrance (reception) of County Hall.

hello:
photo in the last comment had to be re-sized to fit on the screen. It was humungous, when uploaded. please do get used to guidelines suggesting that picture of no more than 600 pix across, should be uploaded. Many thanks..
