The threat of being arrested for War Crimes has deterred the Israeli Public Security Minister Avi Dichter from visiting the UK.

In 2002 The Israeili domestic intelligence Shin Beth, led by Mr Dichter, assassinated a Hamas leader Saleh Shehada. A one-tonne bomb was dropped on his house killing him his wife and three children.

This is not the first time an Israeli official has avoided arrest in the UK. Two years ago Lawyers acting for The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights successful in having an arrest warrant issued against another Israeli.

UK police planned to arrest Israeli Geneal Doron Almog upon his arrival in the UK on charges that he had committed war crimes against the Palestinian people. Almog was tipped off so he remained on the plane at Heathrow and returned to Israel.
