Head of Physical Security (Grade 6)
£50,963 – £65,681
Langhurst House, Nr Horsham, West Sussex
It takes superior mental agility to put effective physical security in place. In this role, you’ll lead and inspire scientists and engineers to provide world-class advice, innovation and support across almost every branch of policing and law enforcement. With ground breaking science and innovation you will help protect the critical national infrastructure, secure our prisons and support the successful delivery of the security for the 2012 London Olympics. So your technical knowledge, management style and diplomatic skills should be second to none.
Overall, this highly strategic role will see you support the Home Office and its partners in the areas of physical security, offender management and, as previously mentioned, the huge variety of issues surrounding the London Olympics. You’ll achieve this by leading a team of 40 professional staff in Langhurst House’s highly technical environment.
Through the day-to-day management of this site and its facilities, you’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, to cost and to the highest standards of quality. We’ll be looking to you to oversee security, safety, health, environmental and business continuity issues. You’ll also take a lead on corporate issues and play an active role in our Director’s management team.
Specifically, you will take on the account management for the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure and the National Offender Management Service, which is part of the Ministry of Justice. In addition, you will focus on the policing and protection of the UK’s marine environment.
This role demands the ability to question technical principles underlying proposals. You’ll also need a proven record of managing people and processes in a complex technical and stakeholder environment. A relevant scientific or engineering degree, plus subsequent relevant experience is highly desirable.
