Islam in Venezuela?

Greetings, I’m sending you this to clarify what the Wayuu + Islam is. The Wayus have for years been sharing and having interaction with the people originating from the Middle East. Evidently, the fact is that human beings can modify common impressions – what people are saying -- and transform them into convictions.

Greetings, I’m sending you this to clarify what the Wayuu + Islam is. The Wayus have for years been sharing and having interaction with the people originating from the Middle East. Evidently, the fact is that human beings can modify common impressions – what people are saying -- and transform them into convictions.

The binational and commercial history of the Wayuus is very enduring, sad, stoic, and also full of unpleasant occurrences and circumstances due to being a border people. But at the same time their history has been full of struggles and victories.

In the Colombian state there exists a considerable degree of mestizos, intermarriage between Wayu and people of Middle Eastern origin. They share their beliefs as well. This phenomenon or movement does NOT exist yet to the extent that would alarm the rest of the people. What is alarming is the killing of the Wayu and other indigenous people throughout the world and the number of people from Colombia who are displaced to Venezuela, a number which is increasing daily.

One can refer to the statistics regarding acculturative processes gathered by ACNUR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and other organizations in order to document this. In my experience as an audiovisual professional, photographer, and journalist on the border, I have not once seen such things these people are describing. I have however seen guerrillas, paramilitaries, cases reported to the authorities such as killing of the relatives of witnesses, among other things, but not this phenomenon that has been described.

Read the items below and you will see how the process of disinformation is being used to alarm and manipulate people.
Thank you.

P.S. If anything such as this were to be occurring, it would be on the Colombian side of the border, due to the insecurity of the political reality there with respect to the indigenous people. These are things that until now do not exist, and have not existed, in Venezuela. None of my compatriots -- none of the people I know, none of my people -- nor the Wayununaiki periodical, nor the people of Faith and Happiness (radio station with bilingual programming in Paraguaipoa), none of these attest to the existence of such a movement.

Now, enough of that seriousness, let's get ludicrous:

And the website address is out of Israel (.il).
The 2nd webite is also based out of Israel. If one ever sees anything not 110% supporting the worst of Israel's policies, write this website and they'll denounce it as.....racist.

Gustavo Coronel (I don't know what his problem is). He a kind of twin (also evil) brother, Aleksander Boyd. Boyd is currently dealing with a defamation suit brought against him for the slander he printed against the mayor of London, Mr. Livingstone.
Venezuelatoday is this nut case Coronel's website -- where do these people get the money to sit around all day and manufacture this stuff? You can tell from the rest of the "release" below that the man is on the moon, a typical raving opositor with a very, very creative imagination -- put to bad use.

When Coronel claims that he's "convinced" by the photos, the odds are actually that if not he alone, he has helped to concoct (make up) this fake web site of Hezbollah Wayuu. What an oxymoron: Hezbollah Wayuu. give me a break.

This kind of garbage is too stupid to try and disseminate inside Venezuela, it's easily tested and would be found a lie, and it's just too crazy to get many people to believe it even for a little while. Anything too ugly-crazy , it goes on the internet.

Do you or anyone else recognize any of the people on the photos? It's easy to use PhotoShop and stick whatever you want on a banner -- which is clearly what they did. Maybe in some some pueblito somewhere they paid people to pose, but I doubt it.

The children don't look especially Wayuu to me even. My favorite fantasy page is this one, where they just write whatever they feel like above a photo portrait of some poor Wayuu woman they got from somewhere:

 http://groups.msn.com/autonomiaislamicawayuu/quienessomos.msnw?actio n=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=52

You can just TELL from her facial expression she's a suicide bomber -- probably waiting for opening day of the new Maracaibo Metro to sacrifice herself for Allah, don't you think?!
Pretty elaborate for just doing a hoax.

Sometimes the right wing likes to do this outrageous stuff with the hopes that at some point one of them will get passed around enough that some news agency will have to report on it in some way.

Even if the reporting does nothing but show what a hoax it is, the fact will remain that planted in people's minds is just the IDEA of Wayuu or other easily fooled Indians getting recruited by Hezbollah, which is incredibly strong and everywhere!!! They're already HERE!!! HELP!!! WE NEED TO BOMB IRAN NOW!!!!! .............you get the picture.

Even though it's probably too disgusting to really enjoy it, probably the best way to deal with this is to laugh at it. Present it to your family and friends as some lonely computer hacker right-winger who has no parties to go to and so creates this all night.

ONly 2 people have signed the Libro de Visitantes: a chavista from Merida, and some Lutheran missionary!! I kid you not, look for yourself. Guess the Guajira Jihad isn't really catching on.

By the way, notice the first word in the name of the group:
Autonomia Islámica Wayuu .

Now, where in Venezuela have we recently heard some right-wing campaign with a LOT of money for billboards, etc., suddenly appear using his word?? --oh yeah, Zulia. Surprise.

It's a little too weird to laugh out loud, but it is pretty laughable.

P.D. -- somewhere in there the website refers to Wayuu who live in the Goajira in eastern Venezuela. (Wich is a mistake)

Thank you very much
