HLS Shareholders Dropped! Wachovia, Axa & Rathbones

Rathbones, after one demonstration out side their office in London, made the right decision and sold their 20,000 shares in HLS. Huntingdon Life Sciences are on the ropes after AXA and Wachovia both sold all their share very recently. Please get out and help kill off this sick and dying company once and for all.

Rathbones, after one demonstration out side their office in London, made the right decision and sold their 20,000 shares in HLS. Huntingdon Life Sciences are on the ropes after AXA and Wachovia both sold all their share very recently. Please get out and help kill off this sick and dying company once and for all.

Since May 2007 the following companies have dropped their shares:

Rathbones Brothers
Wachovia Bank
Axa
Dresdner Bank
Deutsche Bank
La Grange Capital
Robeco Investment Management
Fairfield Grenwich Associates

The campaign against HLS has seen some of the world's largest corporations bow to public pressure and stop supporting Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Throughout the campaign activists have made financial history as one by one major corporations have yielded to protester power and severed their links with the failing company.

HLS's key weakness is their finances and by throwing the spotlight on those funding their abuse SHAC campaigners across the globe have managed to bring HLS to the brink of financial collapse.

The following companies were at one time associated with HLS either as shareholders, stockbrokers, market makers, suppliers or clients. In this list you will find some of the world's largest companies including all four main high street banks in the UK, the world's largest financial institution, the world's second largest bank and the world's largest insurance broker. All these companies have made clear and unequivocal statements to SHAC stating that they will never deal with Huntingdon ever again. Incredible isn't it? But there again with Huntingdon $89 million dollars in debt and with NO commercial bank and insurance company anywhere in the world prepared to deal with them it's hardly surprising.

Way to go!

The sooner that place is shut down forever the better.

Funny - not on SHAC

19.11.2007 10:00

Normally SHAC would have posted this on their site - its not there!

Not SHAC

Update on SHAC.net says Wachovia & AXA dropped

19.11.2007 20:48

Link:  http://www.shac.net/ARCHIVES/2007/november/19.htm

No mention of Rathbones, but they sent out a myspace bulletin mentioning that after their first demo at their offices in London, they dumped all their shares. This was when the AXA / Wachovia victories were mentioned.

It will probably mention when they load up the report of the demo day...

It's there now

not on SHAC yet

Complain to EU about State Aid

19.11.2007 22:58

Apparently the State is not allowed to aid private business under EU rules for longer than so many months (see Northern Rock!) so how come the British Government has aided HLS with a bank account etc at public expense? Could SHAC complain to the EU about state aid to HLS? Got to be worth a try.

Watching from afar

Through the courts

20.11.2007 00:33

SHAC-UK have mentioned in British courts time and time again that government are intimately invovled (in various different ways), but it never works out. The three individuals who were running SHAC-UK are now in prison and have been on remand since May 2007 and will have their hearing June/November 2008 - aparantly its called internment, Keith Mann (british animal rights lawyer) claims.

The same has happened in America with the 7 activists who ran SHAC-USA (www.shac7.com), they got 40 years. This is all about destroying freedom of speech and all about aiding HLS, there is no compromise in political terms. All 10 activists have not done anything criminal, only ran an above board campaign. The charges are not even for protesting (but for inciting protests at HLS targets).

We are forgetting more and more every day that Labour actually distributed 100'000 leaflets to members of the public claiming that New Labout would provide "A new life for laboratory animals and a grand inquisition into vivisection". Clearly they have done neither, Barry Horne even starved himself to death in prison calling on the government to do one in 1997/1998.

Despite all this though, HLS lost $10 million in 2006 and are now $100 million in debt in total, mainly deferred debts (another blatant government aid).

The fight is global, and it continues.

Please look at some AR cases though, as now half of our prisoners are there for speaking out, imprisoning legal campaigners is clearly only going to spill over to other movements...

never works

Pressure from all sides

20.11.2007 12:49

I know it's been mentioned in court about just how much the state has helped private companies (even giving out activists details to hired thugs!) But has anyone tried to invoke this state-aid clause from the EU. I guess it would be a european court rather than a British one.

Got to be worth a go just to keep the pressure on from all sides. Maybe someone like Animal Aid would be beter than SHAC for trying to complain about state-aid to private companies via the EU.

Does anyone know if anyone has tried this? I'm just a watcher on these issues so wouldn't have the first clue who to contact to suggest this as a tactic.

Still watching from afar

lack of faith

20.11.2007 16:35

Both groups are unable to speak out against HLS, some stupid restraining order against them both (as well as a other mainstream ar groups) from the 1990's. It's probably true that Shac haven't tried taking it to the EU courts, but I guess its because whenever 'their' name comes up in court, its with a VERY long list of thousands of actions across the globe in support of the campaign which includes smashing windows and burning buildings.

Agreed though, given a group like animal aid did take it to court, it would have a very different outcome - most likely very positive.

I personally also think it would be a complete waste of money, time and effort. HLS have already had their licence revoked once (for 6 months) for falisifying data and animal cruelty, and then went on and did it again and again. But there licence was never revoked again...

More important than taking HLS to court is trying to allow campaigns to legally operate in the UK / USA which is landing activists who run websites in jail....I think the EU courts would only do what British / US courts have done and try and close the campaign down, I don't think they would bother looking into "foul-play" by the state.

Over a douzen companies (hls associates) now have injunctions whereby activists can be arrested within 1k radius' for wearing a bag which has an "anti-vivisection" badge, not even leafleting anymore!

I'm talking about walking through town, not being allowd to wear what you want, because of an injunction (you've now become a part of) for the business down the road.

Watch out Climate Action activists....the courts won't listen to you forever ;-)

I don't think I've ever heard of a "good court case" for shac...

Animal Aid & PETA

Great news!

Drop HLS

just curious...

02.03.2011 23:17

i noticed that there was an HLS related protest by AXA HQ today, just wondering why if they've already dropped all their shares?
