Above the gates of modern labour camps...

King Kosmos | 06.11.2007 16:53 | Anti-militarism | Culture | Globalisation

= Arbeit macht Sie frei und das Kapital 'blei' =

* Above the gates of the modern(ising) concentration/labour/punishment camps (read: (labour) markets):

= Arbeit macht Sie frei und den Geist des Kapitals/ismus 'blei' = (*)

The 'Free Market' and her western(ised) shepherds/believers saw that it was good: liberated from the Ancien Régime the flock simply continued working... for the spirit/god (capital and ('material') welfare) and church (the free market-state) of the New Regime...

= Labour: makes your body free and the spirit of capital(ism) full of glee =

(*) This pun/rhyme came about in Dutch in which 'blij' (similar pronunciation as 'blei') means happy, and rhymes with 'vrij' (similar pronunciation as 'frei') meaning free. Another pun is the fact that 'Blei' is German for lead (plumbum).

* Secular/liberal/modern catechism:

In the name of Capital, Free Market and Progress...

I holy believe:

in the separation between body/material/exterior and spirit/mind/inner

and more specifically in the separation between the body/material/exterior subordinated to laws and the 'free' spirit/mind/inner

in the separation between public and private sphere

in the separation between State and Church(/religion)

in the separation between labour and leisure

in the separation between working (labouring for (own) capital) and living (paying/capital for another's labour, or (for) own non-labour/'rest'/'recreation')

in the separation between the primitive/barbarian past (cfr. the 'prehistory') and the civilised present/future

But do not ask me which is which.
