no new runway at heathrow

pete | 03.11.2007 20:43 | Climate Camp 2007 | Climate Chaos

I know from first hand that a lot of the people involved in campaigns like climate camp are the least likely to have the time to pick up on articles like this that are so relevant to the campaign so I hope people don't mind me linking across to the BBC site.

I have no idea (and I know they wouldn't admit it) whether this is at all a result of this year's Climate Camp, but still it is an important thing to be aware of anyway.

No runway at heathrow - at least until 2016. The campaign goes elsewhere - for now (?)

I think it's unlikely that this years climate camp prompted this story, seeing as the date on it is 2003!

old news

this is a three year old link

current situation is there is a 'consultation' due in december

pardon my cynicism, but consultations are normally only allowed to go ahead once the authorities have worked out how to manipulate them, so a new runway is quite likely still

as far as the beeb story on air pollution, 15 years delay was probably optimistic as legal levels have changed, and figures get massaged

for best news about the campaign against the new runway, visit the HACAN website at
 http://www.hacan.org.uk/

there's information here too about the actually-recent bbc article on the noise study
