Grassroots Solidarity Against the Occupation

The Jordan Valley, part of which is situated in Tubas region, has been de facto annexed by Israel. The Israeli occupation forces using land expropriation, house demolitions, militarisation of vast swathes of land and enforcing a system of pass laws reminscent of apartheid South Africa are attempting to make life impossible for the Palestinians. The aim is to bleed Palestinians out of the valley, leaving those who remain there to provide a workforce to serve the needs of the Israeli agricultural companies who profit from land stolen from the indigenous Palestinian population.

On October 17th the Israeli military issued a demolition order on the school and ordered that the building be removed before Novemmber 29th. Back in Brighton there is a sense of disbelief and outrage that this could happen, but for the Palestinians there is no disbelief. This is the grim reality of everyday life in the Occupied West Bank, and has been for decades. The interminable onslaught of the Israeli occupying forces has deprived Palestinians of their land, homes, livelihoods, education, resources and freedom of movement; there is simply no area of Palestinian life that has not been shattered by the occupation. The response to the latest demolition order in Fasayil is typical of the quiet strength and courage of the Palestinian people – ‘They can knock our school down as often as they want. We cannot stop them from doing so. We will build the school again and again and again. They cannot destroy our determination to give proper education to our children. Our childrens’ education is our future. They will not succeed in their attempts to drive us from our land’.
There are currently ten people from Brighton in Tubas, the second large delegation this year. The group will consolidate links already made with organisations such as the Tubas Red Crescent, agricultural cooperatives, students’ unions, Tubas womens’ group, local trades unions and schools. Its aim is not charity but solidarity. When asked, Palestinians say that what they want is for their stories to be heard, for the truth of their situation to be taken to the outside world. On a recent visit to Brighton by three Palestinians from Tubas they stated unequivocally that while money is needed to run any campaign, they are not interested in attempts to make this occupation more comfortable for Palestinians, but in an end to the occupation.
The delegation will build on projects begun with many of the above organisations, as well as documenting the daily human rights abuses against Palestinian civilians by the Israeli army. Information will be gathered on the activities of Carmel Agrexco, Israel’s largest exporter of produce to British supermarkets from illegal settlements in the West Bank.
The Brighton Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group was set up in March 2006. As well as organising delegations to Palestine, the group sells soap and handicrafts from a women’s group in Tubas, has hosted a group of Palestinians from Tubas in Brighton, has funded and helped to build a school in the Jordan Valley and plans to send a nurse to work in the area in December.
Personal blogs will be written by the group during their visit.
On their return they will be giving presentations and film shows documenting the realities of life under military occupation in Tubas. To read the blogs go to www.brightonpalestine.org/blog

Israeli apartheid against Palestinians

Thanks for bringing this news so that one knows what is happening there. Mainstream media always lie or distort the truth therefore we have only the option of alternative sites like this.
Related to this issue of middle east, I've found few days ago another very good article about the false "war on terror" and how we are lied:
This is the link: http://www.sott.net/articles/show/124602-Why-You-Should-Think-That-The-War-On-Terror-Is-A-Sick-Joke

PS . . . . worth a look at the "US/UK GLADIO?" piece too - its the sort of thing that could happen in allsorts of places
PPS - Come to think of it, the past-present-future metaphors in that "Gy fawkes was framed" piece put up in UK indymedia was quite apposite too - where did THAT disappear to?
ppps - isnt it about time peeople got sceptical about the "watchers" hired extras, etc, but realistic in GOOD ways about the actual SERIOUS hope for peace, if we do.

Israel-Arab Peace Plan
31.01.2008 20:55
Starting in 1948 from very first day of recreation of the State of Israel on the part of Israel territory, Arab countries waged several wars to eliminate Israel from her historic land. Israel won all wars and now Arab countries propose a peace agreement with Israel under conditions, which they intended to dictate. However, only Israel, who won all the wars and defeated Arab countries, has legal rights to formulate and dictate peace agreement terms and conditions, which, in general, shell include the following provisions:
1. Palestinian Arabs must compensate Jews for damages caused by Jews massacres conducted in Palestine before WWII under British administration supervision, for providing Hitler with idea of Final Solution and for taking part in implementing the idea.
2. Arab countries must compensate Israel for damages inflicted on Israel during wars launched by Arab countries.
3. Arab countries must compensate about 1 million Jews expelled from Arab countries between 1948 and 1953, where they lived for centuries, for violation of international law and stilling properties.
4. Arab countries must recognize “Article 24 of the 1964 PLO charter addressed to UN, which stipulates: Palestinian Arabs do not claim Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and Gaza their territories”.
5. Arab countries must comply with Geneva Convention, which recognizes Israel rights on Gaza, Judea and Samaria, historic Jewish land liberated by Israel in 1967 war from Jordan and Egypt occupation.
6. Arab countries must recognize Jerusalem as historic Israel capital.
7. Egypt and Jordan are obligated to relocate Palestinian Arabs (their former citizens) from Gaza (Egypt), Judea and Samaria (Jordan) inside their territories within 1 (negotiable) year term.
8. Arab countries have no right to develop or acquire WMD or weapon that can be used against Israel.
If any Arab country denies this peace terms and conditions, Israel has full legal rights for preemptive strike against this country using all available military power. All islamofascism organizations operating on Israel territory occupied by Palestinian Arabs, such as PLO&Fatah (created after WWII on the principles of Hitler’s ideology and with close ties to Nazi party), Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Agsa Brigade, must be totally, unconditionally and immediately exterminated. All other Palestinian Arabs must be expelled from Israel back to the countries of their origin.
