Animal abuse as Art

'This is one of those things you come across and just have to blink a couple times and ask, “is this real?”. In fact it is'

An artist named Guillermo Habacuc Vargas has displayed a stray dog as a work of art at the Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008. He chained the dog up leaving it just out of reach of a bowl of dog food, and asked people not to feed it. It starved to death during the exhibition as visitors observed the grotesque 'installation'.

The owner of the Gallery said that the dog was fed and that it was only tied up for 3 hours on the one day that the exhibition was on for. The dog was in that condition because it had lived on the street and nobody cared about it then. The artist won the prize bacause he made a very powerful point. Even though the people in the gallery thought that the dog was slowly being starved to death they did nothing??? I doubt very much that the owner of an art gallery would let someone slowly starve a dog to death in the middle of his building!?! and i doubt even more that they would give him a prize for it. He should be praised for this work!!! instead he is receiving death threats because of some crazy zealot animal right activists who
can't see past there own blog.
