Refugee From Iran Snatched By Police!

NWASDG | 20.10.2007 21:34 | Anti-racism | World

At 4pm today - 20th October 2007 An activist from North West Asylum Seeker Defense Groupt was arrested. Faraydun Abdulazzadah was travelling on bus number 192 when he was arrested supposedly for a ticket offense. Faraydun is a political refugee from Iran and if forced to return would be at risk of imprisonment or execution as he is a communist.

Saba, a friend of farayduns was arrested in similar circumstances only a few weeks ago, He is now being held in a detention centre and has no idea if he will be released. It is clear from this that Stagecoach bus company are colluding with police.

Faraydun was released after 4 hours of protest from fellow activists from NWASDG, No borders and Iranian Organisation of refugees. He was released on bail and charged under the theft act regarding a ticket offense.

Without the protest, we believe that Farydun may have faced the same situation that Saba is currently in.

We must now continue to work together to demand the right to stay for all asylum seekers and for the release of Saba.

The next demonstration organised will be on 3rd November at 12noon. Assemble at Whitworth Park
