No Smoking

The smoking ban and it's effects

Since the smoking ban came into force it has resulted in smokers going outside for a smoke. If it's a place of work there has been no problem with it. But if it's a pub? Thats a different stoy and the one for here .In most gentrified drinking houses this will not be a problem. But here in Liverpool, and other city's it is becoming a serious problem. In city centres, were passers by are used to men in drink it's socially put up with. But in the suburbs the new phenomena of groups of men in drink standing outside pubs for a smoke is causing problems with local women passing by. For ever women have got used to builders on sites whistleing at them. It's never been a problem. But this is different. These are men in groups, full of drink and standing outside pubs smoking. Shouting obcenities at passing women and girls. or even just being there staring as they pass. Women are not happy about it and feel very unconfortable. So it seems the side effects of smoking are having a serious effect not predicted by the goverment when considering the ban. To ban in an exclusion zone around the pubs would be a tempory start. But the only real alternative is to ban it completly.
