Belated Pictures of no Mill Road Tescos Busk

Camera Boy | 14.10.2007 21:53 | Cambridge

Due to there being very little evidence on the web (or anywhere else) of this event having happened, I've decided to publish these pictures, as testimony to those who turned up and gave their time and musical skills to the cause last Saturday (October 6th, 2007).

A small but siginficant contingent of musicians and petitioners turned up last Saturday for a few hours to do a musical stake out of the proposed site of a Tescos store on Mill Road, Cambridge.

Not only could this business proposition be potentially damaging to other traders' businesses on the road, taking away a customer base from them that has taken many years to build up, but it will also be massively disruptive to the already highly congested daytime traffic flow of this busy entry route into the town centre, due to Tescos' "last minute policy", which sees them restocking shelves several times a day.

This could result in at least half a dozen large delivery trucks a day pulling up in front of the store, possibly also jeopardising the safety of pedestrains, as these huge trucks would have to mount the pavement to get to the store, due to there being no easy access route to the back lot of the store.

A fun time was had by all, and the whole thing was both good natured and happy, as well as being positively received by local residents.
