DISCUSS: developing a local Latin America solidarity network
At the June Colombia Solidarity meeting at the Mechanics it was agreed to try and develop a local Latin America solidarity network. This could:
-work alongside existing solidarity groups in the city
-focus on Colombia where millions live under the iron heel of state and paramilitary terror
-support progressive movements across the continent
-arrange cultural activities
etc
We are delighted to inform you that the follow-up meeting will take place on:
MONDAY 22 OCT at 7pm
at the MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' UNION (Meeting room MR1).
GUEST SPEAKER: ANDY HIGGINBOTTOM, National Secretary, COLOMBIA SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN ( www.colombiasolidarity.org.uk )
Andy will talk about latest developments and the CSC's recent fact-finding trip, exposing links between British-based companies (e.g. BP and Anglo American) and paramilitary death squads.
FOLLOWED BY AN EXTRACT FROM THE ARGENTINIAN FILM ABOUT THE 2001 CRISIS: MEMORIA DE SAQUEO
Hope to see you there. Please spread the word.
