Animal day in Leeds, report

Beenandgone | 11.10.2007 16:17 | Animal Liberation | Social Struggles

What happened and where the money went.

On Sunday October 7th a small group of people organised an event to coincide with World Animal week. Along with some fantastic support from volunteers the day went well. There was an amazing chocolate stall from a local group of people in Wakefield, vegan cakes from Leeds veggies, animal sanctuaries and local campaigning groups.

One of the groups that attended came along from York, and amongst other things they're currently engaged in some great work for the campaign to end the sale of foie gras in England.  http://www.yafa.co.uk

We were also pleased to have Leeds ABC along to have a stall, and next to them Keith Mann was around to sign copies of his new book and give a talk on it's interesting and meandering journey to being finally completed earlier this year. If you missed it information can be found at:

He dropped into this event whilst on a tour of the UK showing the film 'Behind the mask'

Vegan Prisoner Support Group £60  http://www.vpsg.org
Tower Hill Animal Sanctuary £68.60  http://www.towerhillstables.com/
Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty £50  http://www.shac.net

Thanks again for your support.

And there'll be a Leeds veggie group stall at the Hope Pastures open day on October 21st 10.30 - 15.00 serving up vegan savouries and cakes.
The sanctuary is located on Weetwood Lane.
