Straw Bale work on eco-building in St.Anns Part 22

Work is continuing at EcoWorks with the Straw Bale building. The walls for the whole building are now up!! Harragh!! This post shows the building up of the walls on the end section - 'soon to be' kitchen area.

Window frames all fitted. Spikes driven down through the bales, to give the whole structure more solidity.

This will all settle down over the next week or so. Then the wooden 'top plates' that have already been built [see posting 21] will be added on the top of the bale walls.

To finish the structural bit, straps will be slung vertically over the top, under the bottom, and muchly tensioned. This will give the required rigidity.

Next up, will then be the roof. This is hoped to be in place for by christmas, but is dependent on volunteers, so please help if you can.

Then, the walls inside and out will be finished rendering, the methods having been previously described in this series.

After that, there will be some discussion on where to put the stove in the kitchen. Because the bilding will be enclosed by then, I don't see why the 'internal refinements' can't continue to be worked on through the winter ...... we'll see.
