RFFJ demonstate at manchester crown court....2 arrests

Tuesday 2nd October 2007

Two activists from the campaign group Real Fathers For Justice have today scaled a building directly opposite the Minshull Street Crown Court buildings in Manchester in protest against the treatment of the two campaigners who are on trial for the handcuffing of MP Margaret Hodge over two and a half years ago in a former F4J publicity stunt.

The activists are Mike Kelly from Newcastle, the campaign groups Director, and Lee Doyle from Bristol. Both are wearing prison uniforms and have hung a 30 ft banner stating "Taking Fathers Liberties Since 1997" in reference the the Labour Governments treatment of fathers and their children.

Mike Kelly stated that they are protesting at the rough justice which has targeted two former F4J campaigners at a time the Government thinks it's a good time to silence fathers rights activism.

Margaret Hodge MP the shamed former Children's Minister who was the target of the original protest has been giving evidence during the two week long trial in Manchester and has been seen to be very eager to punish the fathers rights campaigners.

Real Fathers For Justice, who have previously carried a ministerial handcuffing of their own on Beverley Hughes MP during a conference at the GMEX in May 2006, have said that this trial marks the escalating of further direct action campaigning with the sole aim of exposing the Governments failings in dealing with family breakdown and it's effects on children and society.

A spokesperson for the group said "You can expect to see more of the same. If the government thinks they have silenced the campaigners, they have seriously misjudged this case."

LATEST....2 arrested for "being in an enclosed building". what next...arrested for freedom of speech
