Check out this really funny new short film about The Freeconomy Community, the new skill-sharing, free help website that has just been launched. It’s called the ‘Guide to Freeconomy – Episode 1’ and is essential viewing for all non-freeconomists. You can view it at  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wLPOEQcZiQo . And remember, the yellow pages is just a load of old tosh!

This short film ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wLPOEQcZiQo) has been made about a new project which has been recently launched called The Freeconomy Community (www.justfortheloveofit.org), which is an on-line tool for what is an essentially off-line idea. Through it people sign up as members and choose the skills they possess from a list of over six hundred, which then allows them to offer their services to fellow freeconomists within a ten mile radius. The skill range is tremendous, ranging from bike mechanic to dog-walker to conflict resolution practitioner, and includes traits such as environmental activist and, simply, being a good listener. In a freeconomy, everyone has a skill.
From that point onwards, whenever you have a job that needs doing, but one you don’t know how to, or can’t do yourself, you search for a freeconomist in your area who has got the skills you need. Not only do you get a job done for free, members are strongly encouraged to share their skills with each other in the process. And best of all, you get to know another of your neighbours. Likewise, when someone needs a skill you possess, you can choose to help them. Who knows, you might even get a delicious dinner cooked for you in return! It’s a win-win-win situation!
There is also a comments / forum section where you can discuss issues from local economy to alternative transport with people from around the world, and hence enable us to learn from other countries whilst acting in our own community.
You can join today for free - it takes 5 mins to sign-up and then you got a lifetime of free-help and skill sharing awaiting you.
