Strategy meeting for those up for acting against detention profiteers

Meet up at 7pm Thursday 11th October, OARC (room one of the East Oxford
Community Centre).

A group of us are getting together to start a local, uncompromising direct action campaign against detention profiteers. This may take the shape of an Oxford No Borders group.
We need detainee solidarity from the likes of Campaign to Close Campsfield. We also need a sustained campaign against those seeking to capitalise on immigration control. The two strategies probably need to stay separate.

At the moment, we plan to:

- Tie into a new UK-wide No Borders campaign discussed at the recent no borders camp; one that’s designed to halt the construction of the Gatwick detention centre, Brook House. Autonomous No Borders groups intend doing this by starting decentralised direct action campaigns against firms
involved its construction. Oxford can do this too!

- Target companies involved in the running of Campsfield. Campsfield is currently GEO’s only immigration venture in the UK. They can be shown what an unsavoury market it is.

The recent No Borders camp finally gave us the energy needed to get this going – but what we still need are numbers. We know there are lots of people out there who give a damn.
Come along, share your ideas, and get involved in what should be a hot new campaign.
