KIRKLAND, Wash., Sep. 20, 2007 (PR Newswire delivered by Newstex) -- EarthLab ( http://www.earthlab.com) today announced a web partnership with the Alliance for Climate Protection, led by its Chairman Al Gore. Working together with the Alliance, EarthLab provides a carbon calculator to help individuals understand their carbon footprint. Armed with this knowledge, people can begin to find quick and easy ways to reduce their impact on the climate crisis.

'We are pleased to partner with EarthLab to offer the EarthLab carbon calculator on our website to help people understand that by making changes in their own lives, they can be part of solving this global challenge,' said Cathy Zoi, CEO, Alliance for Climate Protection. 'As individuals, adopting solutions is an important first step in reducing our carbon footprint, but each of us must also demand that our leaders make policy changes to solve the climate crisis.'

Anyone can calculate and understand their personal environmental impact with EarthLab's Earth Conservation Plan (ECP) Carbon and Lifestyle calculator. Now available at  http://www.climateprotect.org as the official calculator for the Alliance, EarthLab's carbon calculator goes beyond strict carbon calculations to include lifestyle elements, so that users can formulate a plan to decrease their individual, and family's, effect on the earth.

Initially highlighted during the historic Live Earth concerts ( http://liveearth.org) held July 7, 2007, EarthLab's ECP Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator has already reached more than 900,000 people.

'Technology and community has the power to make a positive, long-term contribution to solving the environmental challenges we face,' said Duane Dahl, Creator of EarthLab. 'By becoming a website partner with the Alliance for Climate Protection, we can increase awareness about the climate crisis and drive real change that will help cut carbon emissions throughout the world.'

Individuals can use EarthLab's calculator to receive a baseline score that can be saved and tracked for long-term improvement. Users can compare their personal results to average scores by city, state, or country. By asking a short series of questions scientifically designed to analyze each individual's environmental footprint, EarthLab delivers an ECP score online. Questions range from the size of residence to average utility bills, what kind of a car they drive, and personal energy habits.

To translate their ECP score into actions, individuals can make pledges on the site to show their commitment to the environment and set personal, practical and achievable goals.
