Strike one for the Pirates

Anti file-sharing organisation, MediaDefender, is outed through leaked emails.

650Mb of MediaDefender's internal company emails have been leaked onto BitTorrent and Emule file sharing sites. They include staff members social security numbers, IP addresses, and personal telephone numbers. They also show the practices that anti-P2P organisations employ, from promoting fake pornographic emule servers, editing MP3 files to make them sound shoddy, inserting sex-clips into video files, to the setting up on video-sharing sites that allow users to upload pirated material in order to track their online activities. Particularly damaging will be staff members' attitudes towards their big business clients, and lax attitudes towards security. The hacker group behind this "MediaDefender-Defenders" said they had also been tapping phone calls at MediaDefender for over 9 months.

A special thanks to the MD employee that gave this to us.
