Hydrogen Home Filling Station

Don Beck | 13.09.2007 17:58 | Ecology

At your local auto parts store or big box we
should be able in the near future to buy a
package that contains a hydrogen producing
generator. It will be able to be connected to
a solar panel of any kind, and with DC current
it will split water into oxygen and hydrogen
gas. It is actually very simple. The device
will have a system which has probes placed
in water which when DC current is applied
will produce oxygen on one probe and
hydrogen on the other.

A small compressor will send the hydrogen to a holding
tank that can be installed in an auto in less time than it takes to fill
your car at the local gas station and without a forty dollar payment.

The only things that are needed is a re-fit of stainless steel valves and a
stainless steel exhaust system for your car's engine along with installing
a small valve for the hydrogen intake to the carburetor.

Government re-fitting stations should be set up in every major city and no
major infrastructure will be required by the energy giants, who will be
boiling mad that oil will loose it's value and eventually become obsolete.

This would take time, but it would be the easiest solution to the problem
of global warming. Hydrogen, as you already know, produces only water vapor
and heat when it is burned, and it is actually more powerful than gasoline
as a fuel. It would also require the timing of your engine to be reset to
TDC (top dead center) because it explodes faster than gasoline. That is
a simple procedure that any home mechanic can accomplish.

So, the climate crisis can be solved with a few very obtainable and very
sensible adjustments to our urban life that would allow us all to continue
with our SUV life styles, and not push the climate into the catastrophic
future that is awaiting us with the continued use of fossil fuels.

Hydrogen rather than coal for electricity generation is also possible with
the new breakthroughs in solar panel technologies that make the cost of solar
equal to coal but far, far less destructive to the environment.

This IS attainable!

Also, a system of producing the hydrogen on each auto with the use of
a couple of 12 V batteries is attainable, but this also requires the stainless
steel valves and the other things mentioned above. It also requires a bit
more maintenance of the O/H separator......but it too IS attainable and has
been accomplished by several people.

So, if you want to let the energy giants ruin this planet for short term profits,
there is not much I can do to turn you around. But you will not be able to
say to your grandkids that there "was nothing I could do"!

That article is inaccurate. What is described is nothing new and offers no solutions just false hope based on very poor understanding of physics and the nature of energy.

some reality please

you really don't get it do you?

As if governments, as you put it, are going to sanction this alternative fuel and this'll piss off multi-nationals.

What planet are you on?

get a grip and learn something about global capitalism - if corporations and their muppet governments can't make a substantial profit out of it, then it 'aint gonna happen. And if it does go anywhere then they'll either extinguish it or appropriate it for their own ends.

You might feel sanctimoniously righteous driving around in your zero polluting car, but oppression still goes on in all its forms, and the only way out of it is to bring the system down.

fuck green capitalism

Your dead right about one thing

They will do whatever they can to keep it from happening as they have done before. They surely won't help. But I don't agree with your attitude. You don't even think it's worth a try. You best check into what the scientists are saying lately. It's not a matter of trying.......this kind of major undertaking is what is necessary! Quit your bloody criticizing and get off your asses

Sunshine reality - Rationable?

Don -

Tell us a bit more about "Hydrogen rather than coal for electricity generation is also possible with the new breakthroughs in solar panel technologies that make the cost of solar equal to coal."

We hear a lot about breakthroughs in design of solar panels to generate electricity. But do not see realistically priced panels coming onto the market.

And note that rich houseowners can get grants to install photovoltaic panels, but someone without a mains supply cannot get a grant. The Labour Party knows where registered voters are. Perhaps it is not quite as bad as the postal votes scam, in some constituencies the seat was held for Labour by Alzeimers votes. Brown now trawls for the Tory Alzeimers vote giving tea to Thatcher.

This company is supposed to be in production at this time. There is
another technology that also brings the cost of solar way down but it
is still in development.

The development at a South African University
of a process to manufacture panels made with
a much better material (CIGS) that generates
electricity from sunlight at a lower cost than the
silicon photo voltaic panels is what has been
hoped for for decades. Solar power is no longer
too expensive compared to coal plant generation.

"The most promising PV material identified to date is
Copper-Indium-Gallium-Diselenide (CIGS)." 1

"Less than one micron of CIGS absorbs more than 99% of available
incident solar energy, compared to 350 microns of silicon to do the
same job." 1

"International experts have admitted that nothing else comes close to
the effectiveness of the South African invention." 2

"...the cost of the South African technology is a fraction of the less
effective silicone solar panels." 2

"A typical middle-class suburban family needs only about 30 square
metres (about the size of a living room) of solar panels to supply all
of its electricity needs." 1

The German company IFE started production a year ago, and other
companies are negotiating to produce the panels. A recent email
requesting purchasing information got this response from IFE:
"Currently, we are in the process of constructing our production facility
in Brandenburg an der Havel. In all probability, production of our thin film
solar modules is going to start by mid 2007."

Leaders around the world are vowing to fight against global warming, and
they are forming committees everywhere to find solutions. But this new
substance has not been reported on in this country (except on the IMCs)
to the extent it should be and our leaders are scratching their heads about
what to do.

The solutions to global warming are at hand RIGHT NOW! They are this
type of electricity generation, and hydrogen and electric cars.

Please make your leaders and electric companies aware of this new
photo voltaic panel. We should be producing them by the millions as
soon as possible!
