Laughter Bomb Strikes London
londonlaughterbomb | 03.09.2007 14:20 | Culture | Terror War | London | South Coast
On 11th September 2007, the sixth anniversary of the World Trade Centre disaster, groups of activists will gather around London to explode "laughter bombs".
11th September 2007 is the date of the first London Laughter Bomb. The idea is to gather in small groups around the capital and "explode" in laughter and celebration.
Laughter is higly contagious: maybe we can get those serious city workers and stressed Londonders laughing along with us! In 1962, there was an outbreak of contagious laughter in Tanganyika, which spread from person to person, village to village, eventually causing the closure of schools. It lasted for an unbelievable six months, an epidemic of “laughter” across the country.
Brightly coloured costumes, banners, flyers, kazoos, bubble machines, toys, face paints....use your imagination!
Let us let go of our Fear, which is holding us back from being who we truly are, and express our creativity and Freedom through Laughter and Celebration.
On this day, September 11th, we remember the victims of the World Trade Centre disaster. But we refuse to live our lives in Fear. To live in Fear destroys our Freedom and Creativity, and these are the very things which make us Human. To live in Fear makes us easy to control, easy to manipulate, easy to censor, but we Refuse to be controlled, manipulated or censored. We Defend our Right to free expression, to spontaneity, to amusement, to creativity in every form. We Defend our Right to create our own entertainment, our own lifestyles: we refuse to be controlled by the Fear created by the mass media. Our Laughter is an expression of our freedom, our spontaneity, and our Response to the Ridiculous and Hilarious situation of Fear which we are being encouraged to live in.
In place of Fear, we choose to live in Love. For living in Love, and letting go of Fear, makes things Better for Everyone. When we see our fellow human beings not as potential Terrorists, but as potential Friends, when we choose to move away from fear-based “playground mentality”, when we learn to have Respect for all beings, only then can we create a society of Peace, where all can lead lives of Joy and Celebration, whatever their circumstances.
To participate in the London Laughter Bomb simply....gather in small groups and begin to laugh! It's easy! let's spread an epidemic of Laughter around London.
