The best way to get smokers to stop is to make the tabacco company's give them back the money they have spent over the years.The product does not do what it was advertised to do,and some of the claims made in those adverts during the 40's 50' and 60's were insidious.I have been smoking for 45 years.They owe me quite a considerable sum.I could use that to replace the enjoyment i get from a smoke with some other enjoyment.But the usual thing stands in the way.The revenue generated by sales.Thats why no government will ban it outright.If it came out today as a new product it would be on schedule 1 of the misuse of drugs act.And also carry the kind of sentence for possesion or supply.Putting graphical images on the packets is just a way of saying"Look what we can legally do to you".And charge you for it.Untill the government make it a class A drug with no medical use and ban it outright as such no one will ever stop everyone smoking.It is too addictive for that to happen.Like heroin abuse coming off it leaves the body's natural endorphines on low par.Some schools of science say permanently.My own experience was of stopping for 16 months when i was about 24.Even after that long the urge was still there so i tend to agree with the school that says permanent.So banning is the only solution.I could not see myself skulking around looking for a tabacco dealer.
