Palestinian employees are standing in line to get their long-delayed salaries.
The Palestinian government is preparing a legislation designed to cut off overseas funding for Hamas in another step to counter the group.

The US-backed government of Mahmoud Abbas will soon have a law in place to monitor all money entering the Palestinian territories, Riad Malki, the Palestinian information minister, said Wednesday.

Malki did not mention Hamas by name, claiming that the new legislation was meant to bring Palestinian money laws up to international standards.

But government officials, speaking off the record, said the law was meant to prevent funds from reaching the Islamic group through local businesses and charities.

Hamas denounced the planned legislation as an attempt to "suffocate'' the organization.

Officials close to Abbas said that Hamas brings in millions of dollars from abroad each month through merchants loyal to the group and charities.

The move is the latest in a series of efforts by Abbas to impede Hamas' national unity government after the group took control of the Gaza, because it accused its rival Fatah of planning a US-sponsored coup against the movement.

Israel Bans School Supplies to Gaza

Gaza, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The Israeli government forbade the entrance of paper for making text books to children from Gaza Strip, denounced Palestinian-Israeli Information-Investigation Center (CIIPI).

A released issued by the institution revealed that Palestinian children will attend the classrooms in September without their pens, pencils, books and more if the military command withholds the entry of five supply trucks to the region.

The Israeli Defense Ministry is considering if the load is part of the humanitarian aid material that should enter Gaza Strip, blockaded since June 14 when it was taken by the Islamic Resistance Movement.

The schools of the region are funded by the UN Agency of Palestinian Refugees, revealed the note.

CIIPI has always defended education as a way to achieve peace between Israeli and Palestinians but maintains that there cannot be education without supplies, stated the release.

The plaintiffs asked for the intervention of the Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Education Minister Tuli Tamir and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
