Pictures Of Children Blockade At World Freight Centre
camp imc | 18.08.2007 16:54 | Climate Camp 2007 | Climate Chaos | London
At around 3pm this afternoon children and their parents from around the UK gathered at Heathrow's World Freight Centre to blockade its access road. Around 15 people took part in the blockade which was taken over by others from the Camp For Climate Action after 45 minutes. No one has been arrested so far and police, FIT team as well as BAA security are present at the scene. The blockaders unrolled a banner reading 'Enjoy Local Food' to highlight the effects to climate change that flying food around the world causes.

Sitting your kids down in a public road to stop cars passing by???

Whether the children involved have thought about the issues and decided to protest, or have just been brought by their parents is a different question. But even if they are just their with their parents, it's hardly the first time. I recall a photo of an eight year old white South African girl at an AWB rally wearing a T shirt with the slogan "This land is our land". And remember John Gummer force feeding his daughter dodgy beefburgers? At least the environment is a cause which the kids can understand and relate to, unlike apartheid and dodgy beef.

Great Stuff

These kids will probably look back and say at least they did something. After all it's people of my generation and their generation that are going to be greatly effected by climate change so do us all a favour, Mark, and shut the hell up.

Take them back home, put them in front of the telly, feed them junk food and watch them grow up
in siberian temperatures because the melting ice from greenland will have killed off the gulf stream.

People with your type of reactionary values do at least serve one useful purpose - you give people like me a damn good chuckle at your rabid rantings. It's good to laugh.
Oh, don't bother with any "crusty twat" epithets, by the way. I am in fact a fat, respectable middle-aged spinster with a regular job. The only reason I am not actually at the climate camp is that I couldn't get time off from said job. Pity.

Missing the point Mark

In addition to the above, you appear to be missing the point of the blockade. Did you notice the banner that said "Enjoy local food"? Did you notice that it was a blockade of the FREIGHT terminal or did you just think "fantastic, here's something to moan about" in your obviously small mind? We were not there to stop cars passing by but to make a point about food being flown around the world.
Also, did you notice the presence of the men wearing black? They were police.
From another of the parents who would no more put her children in danger than fly to Scotland.
Spartacus - thanks
Eddie - you're just a bit wierd aren't you
