Climate Camp Woman superglues herself to gate.

As a result of resistance to the allegedly unauthorised raid ( http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/08/378258.html) the TSG - popularly known as the riot squad - assembled outside the gate to "restore order".

For the duration Sipson Road - the only access to the site - was blockaded by police under an early C19th statute invoked by the C21st commissioner Sir Ian Blair.

At around 8.25 a car containing some police Top Brass - unconfirmed reports claim it was "Gold Command" - swept out of the Sipson end of the blockade and the road was re-opened.

Walking towards the camp we came across Penny - until yesterday the camp's police liason officer until resigning in disgust at their intransigence - who'd decided to engage in some real police liason and block their entrance by supergluing herself to the gates.

At around 9.15 police declared her "free" - and promptly bundled her into a police van.

Superglue

Superglue is hardly eco-friendly , its a toxic bi-product of the chemical industry.
She would have been far better off trying to skywalk a stationary plane in the nip- fer
christsakes!

ouch

Well done Penny

Well done to Penny and the other campers for preventing this police attempt to cause trouble. I hope support for her is in operation.

The legal team should also be making a complaint, even though it will not mean anyone is held to account as the IPCC are simply the propaganda wing of the police just like their predecessors.

The police will no doubt try a different tactic to cause trouble next.

The IPCC (so-called "Independent" Police Complaints Commission) have still not released the report into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, two years after he was murdered by armed police...

You failed at Drax last year and your destined to fail here. Yes we all know what climate change is doing but you wont stop it like this, educating peolpe is fine, protest is fine, direct action is a waste of effort as you saw for yourselves at Drax. The only thing you really achieve is pissing people off and adding to our tax bill (and any of yours who have jobs), still your good for a laugh.
