Protest against asylum treatment

The march was organised by the North West Asylum Seekers Defence Group. Protestors gathered at the Platt Fields in Rusholme, Manchester, at midday.
The crowds were watched by police as they walked down the roads into the city centre.
The group says it feels the government wrongly gives the impression the UK is swamped by asylum seekers.
It also claims many live in poverty without access to proper benefits and are unfairly forbidden from working.
