Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (August 10) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (4.9MB) (28:59)
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- A second inter-Korean summit will be held at the end of this month. The 6-party talks on N Korea are trying to work out delivering oil to replace the need for nuclear power. Georgia accused Russia of launching two fighter jets and dropping a bomb which failed to explode. Israel denies a report saying that they were about to exchange some land with Palestine. On Monday there was a demonstration in Hiroshima to remember the atomic bomb and discuss disarmament. Japan and Cambodia are deepening their military ties. Indonesia and the US are in a 4 day joint military exercise. Protests have erupted in East Timor after the naming of a new Prime Minister.
From NETHERLANDS- A press review on the expanded surveillance powers the US Congress just gave to Geo Bush. A press review on a Dutch politician's op-ed piece calling for a complete ban on the Koran in the Netherlands. An early withdrawal of British troops from Iraq may be in the works and would serve Gordon Brown, the new Prime Minster of England, quite well politically.
From CUBA- A Viewpoint on the demands of the British public and the new Prime Minister for the release of British residents held as prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Israel failed to open an investigation into the death of a UK cameraman in Gaza, killed by Israeli soldiers. Protesters were arrested at a nuclear weapons plant in Tennessee at a protest marking the anniversary of the use of an atomic bomb at Hiroshima.
From RUSSIA- The International Red Cross has released a report on the CIA secret prisons. A commentary on the US approach to ignoring the will of the Security Council at the UN. Geo Bush continues to promote isolating Iran, despite bringing Iran into the discussion over the war in Iraq.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am and Saturday at 11am(PST)
The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from or iTunes (search for "shortwave" in podcasts)

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
