No Sweat | 06.08.2007 13:38 | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | London | Sheffield
Starbucks in an anti-union company that exploits its coffee shop workers as well as the people who grow the coffee beans it uses. That's why on Saturday 18 August, No Sweat and the Industrial Workers of the World union will be holding a national day of action to expose Starbucks' abuses and support Starbucks workers fight to get organised.
What you can do
1. Organise a protest at a Starbucks near where you live or work on 18 August. You can download a leaflet about Starbucks to copy and use on the protest
http://www.nosweat.org.uk/node/549
We are asking activists to spend about an hour leafleting outside a store. In London, most local protests will take place from 11am to 12 noon and then a central London protest will start at 2.00. To let us know what you're organising, or to find out about protests already being organised, please get in touch.
2. Or why not set up a meeting to discuss Starbucks' record? We can mail you/your group a copy of a film called Coffee Sirens made by pro-union activists in New York (35 minutes). And we can provide speakers.
