ARLINGTON, Va., Jul. 31, 2007 (PR Newswire delivered by Newstex) -- Stand-up comedians Dave Attell and Scott Kennedy performed last week for troops stationed in the Persian Gulf region. The tour was sponsored by the USO and the Multi National Corps -- Iraq.

This was the third USO tour for Attell and Kennedy, who performed together for troops in the United States, Netherlands Antilles, Ecuador, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Iraq in 2005 and 2006. Most recently, the duo performed for troops in Honduras.
Touched personally by their USO experiences overseas, the duo united to meet with service members, sign autographs and bring comic relief to troops abroad.
'All jokes aside, it is an honor to be a part of USO tours,' says Attell. 'Meeting with troops, listening to their stories and making them laugh is the least I can do considering that they are putting their lives on the line for America everyday.'
Named one of the '25 Funniest People in America' by Entertainment Weekly, Attell is the host of Comedy Central's 'Insomniac with Dave Attell.' He makes regular appearances at the Comedy Cellar in New York City and has made numerous appearances on such shows as 'The Late Show with David Letterman,' 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' and 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien.'
Texas native Kennedy has performed stand-up comedy for 18 years and is a regular headliner at Harrah's in Las Vegas performing to sold-out crowds. Listed as one of the 'Top 100 Comics of All Time,' Kennedy has been showcased on Comedy Central Presents and has made appearances on 'Last Comic Standing,' 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' and 'Good Morning America.'
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, there are currently 1.4 million active-duty U.S. service members and 1.2 million members of the National Guard and Reserves, with many serving overseas. USO entertainment tours are essential to fulfilling the USO's mission of boosting troop morale to service members stationed far from home. Entertainers who recently participated in USO tours include Chely Wright, Gary Sinise and Toby Keith.
AT&T, Inc. is the official telecommunications sponsor of USO entertainment tours. For a list of recent and upcoming USO tours, visit http://www.uso.org/whatwedo/entertainment/. To find out how to support the troops, visit http://www.uso.org.
