Some points raised for further debate concerning the God dellusion, the many names of God, and Islamophobia.
Can’t an Atheist talk to a Pantheist without derision?
How can an Atheist, opposing the war on Iraq and other wars, back the Administration in their current anti-multiculturalism spin? Isn’t this illogical?
A situation where a defense of Atheism per se (as meaning that religions do not contribute to social harmony) can lead some persons to ally themselves with zealots and bigots, attacking Islam as a whole, disregarding Islam’s enormous historical influence and cultural contributions on Europe and the West.
Yet climate chaos will affect all, the three Abrahanic religions and beyond. Can’t an Atheist admit that contemplation and meditation may provide comfort to many dispossessed? Or even religion? About 80,000 persons dead in Afghanistan and Pakistan due to last earthquakes. It’s as if they were talking about another world, not the same one where Western troops are now “fighting the Taliban”. The un-important have died.
Yet even in this most bleak scenario, some trends could be worth following as optimist indicators (positive consequences of climate chaos):
Troops to return home to help the populations in flooding and other disasters.
Army’s role to turn from offensive-defensive into serving the population’s needs (survival, not because of foreign foes, but because NATURE has become the biggest terror threat!)
