The recently established London Socialist Feminist reading group meets monthly and continues its programme on Friday 27 July with a discussion on equal pay.

In 1968, a group of female sewing machinists went on strike against a sex-biased grading structure. The 1970 Equal Pay Act followed shortly after. But women are still paid significantly less than men. Why is that? What can we do about it?

We will be showing filmed interview with women — including women involved in the Ford strike — who have fought against low paid. Followed by a talk and discussion.
