To produce foie gras birds have pipes forced down their throats on a daily basis and are forced-fed grain until their livers become inflamed, swollen and infected. They can swell upto ten times their natural size, causing the birds to suffer, before they have their throats slit.

The practice of farming birds to make foie gras was outlawed in the UK due to the immence cruelty involved, but a loophole in the act makes it legal to import the food.

62 restaurants in the UK have stopped the sale of foie gras due to pressure, including the last national target - The Living Room. We therefore call for all ther hotels in the MWB Group to follow suit and dump the delicacy of despair. Please politely contact MWB and demonstrate outside your local Malmaison and Hotel du Vin. We have also listed Liberty, who are a department store owned by MWB. They don't sell foie gras in their restaurant, but we think they should know exactly what their parent company is involved in:
