Sneinton Community Festival: 2 Hermitage Square Festival
Meeting by 12noon on Saturday 14th July, people gathered for the Sneinton Carnival. It started on the Old School Hall yard at Windmill Lane, next to Greens Windmill.
Residence, schools and youth groups from all around Sneinton made some fantastic colourful costumes for the parade.
All then paraded the long way around Sneinton to the Heritage Square. Theere, a stage was set up, stalls erected, workshops happening and a lot of turf layed out on the surrounding streets. This was a real plus. Kids ran about safely and real community feeling was achieved.
Iterestingly though, for a small community, the pararde and event got 7 Community Protection Officers, 5 Police Community Support Officers. 3 police constable and and 'heavy' van! I mean ..... bloody heck!
The weather was kind, the rain held off all day, but there was a bit of a breeze occassionaly which meant some had some trouble, controlling their wings.
